Dr. Asenso holds a doctoral degree in pharmacology from Anhui Medical University, P. R. China. His doctoral thesis was on the intracellular pharmacokinetics of paeoniflorin-6'-O-benzene sulfonate. The study focused on the pharmacokinetic characteristics and uptake transporters of paeoniflorin-6'-O-benzene sulfonate in vivo and in vitro. The study involved the development of a liquid chromatography analytical method to detect and assess the concentration of paeoniflorin-6'-O-benzene sulfonate in Sprague-Dawley rats and T lymphocytes. Also, western blot and quantitative PCR techniques were used to assess the membrane transporters that influence the uptake of paeoniflorin-6'-O-benzene sulfonate. Dr. Asenso worked as a lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sunyani Technical University (2021-2023), where he taught basic pharmacology, toxicology and drug interaction to undergraduate students. His areas of interest include drug discovery, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drugs analysis, animal models and natural products pharmacology. He joined The Kumar lab in January 2024, focusing his research on autoimmune disease drug development, and nonclinical testing.
